This page describes how to build an affiliate tracking link to any CallWriter.com page, using examples of affiliate pricing codes and unique identifier codes. These links will only work (track sales) for affiliates who have been approved and activated.

Affiliate Codes

Approved affiliates receive a setup email containing their pricing page code, affiiliate code, username and password (those below are examples), and the same information appears in the Affiliate Setup page established for each affiliate:

Pricing Page Code:	GRAD
Your Affiliate Code:	gradient
Affiliate username:	abstruse
Affiliate password:	jack210

Your Landing (Pricing) Page

Each affiliate has a unique landing page for referrals, which shows CallWriter discounted prices and is customized with the affiliate's name. The URL for it will look like this:

http://www.callwriter.com/sales/GRAD/specialpricing.htm

The letters GRAD would of course be replaced with the affiliate's actual pricing code. However, this is not a tracking link. Affiliates should always use a tracking link to their special pricing page, which is included in affiliate setup.

Building a Tracking Link

It is easy to build a tracking link to any CallWriter.com page. There are five elements to our tracking links, which are:

1. Base URL of the Callwriter page (ex: http://www.callwriter.com/)
2. CW tracking code string
3. Identifier of your choosing
4. Your unique CallWriter affiliate code
5. Remainder of URL (omit the .htm extension)

These elements are used to create a tracking link to any Call'Writer page. Here is how to build a tracking link to this page: http://www.callwriter.com/cclistdemo.htm.

You simply split the URL in two, as shown below, and throw away the .htm file extension. You splice in the tracking code string plus an identifier of your choosing (we used the word "ccwebinar") and your affiliate code (gradient). The table below illustrates the process.:

Let's Build a Tracking Link

1. Our proprietary affiliate link tracking code string:

cgi-bin/cw/mtrack.cgi?

The above code string must be inserted without modification in each tracking link immediately after the http://www.callwriter.com/ or http://secure.callwriter.com/ in the CallWriter URL being linked to, without adding a space or other character:

Ex: http://www.callwriter.com/cgi-bin/cw/mtrack.cgi?

2.Add an identifier of your choosing:

ccwebinar

Next, enter an identifier of your choosing, followed by an ampersand (&). For illustration, we have inserted the identifier "ccwebinar", but your identifier can be any combination of letters or numerals that does not exceed 15 characters. Place this identifier right after the tracking code string:

Ex: http://www.callwriter.com/cgi-bin/cw/mtrack.cgi?ccwebinar&

NOTE: You must include an identifier, followed by an ampersand.

3. Your unique affiliate code:

Next, add your unique affiliate code, followed by an ampersand (&). This must appear exactly as shown below with the & added.

Ex: http://www.callwriter.com/cgi-bin/cw/mtrack.cgi?ccwebinar&gradient&

4. Add the remaining portion of the URL:

Finally, add the remaining portion of the CallWriter URL being linked to, being sure to omit the .htm extension:

Ex: http://www.callwriter.com/cgi-bin/cw/mtrack.cgi?ccwebinar&gradient&cclistdemo

Your tracking links must be continuous (no spaces or breaks of any kind) in order to work properly. Be sure to use the ampersand (&) after your identifier and after your affiliate code.

Combining the three tracking elements::

The tracking link elements are added in this order, and all are required:

http://www.callwriter.com/	Base URL ending with forward slash
cgi-bin/cw/mtrack.cgi?	Tracking Code string - never varies
ccwebinar&	Identifier of your choice, plus ampersand
gradient&	The unique affiliate code, plus ampersand
webinarinfo	Remainder of CallWriter URL, no .htm extension

Here is the completed sample tracking link:
http://www.callwriter.com/cgi-bin/cw/mtrack.cgi?ccwebinar&gradient&cclistdemo

Tracking Link Practice

Just for practice, let's build a link to a secure CallWriter page:
https://secure.callwriter.com/sales/discount/boap.htm

To create the tracking link, break the URL apart after https://secure.callwriter.com/ and then splice in the three tracking code elements as shown below, omitting the .htm ending:

https://secure.callwriter.com/cgi-bin/cw/mtrack.cgi?ccwebinar&gradient&sales/discount/boap
