| What's-new
overview: |
They're
gorgeous, of course, but that is just a by-product
of good design. The first thing you'll notice
is that there is more data on
the list, a lot more. They still update every
few minutes, naturally.
All
the columns now sort. Columns
are now grouped into related categories, like
covered call return, and you can show or hide these column groups.
Mouse over any cell on the lists and both the
row and column change color.

Default
Sort - The lists are sorted by
the Flat Return in ascending order (highest at
the top).
Row
Numbers - Each row is numbered, representing a return's
rank by Flat Return. When a list is sorted by
a different column, each row retains its original
number. That is, the number is pinned to the return.
The
Earnings Date and Implied Volatility columns do
not yet contain data. We will add that soon. In
the meantime, we have included a link to the earnings
date and implied volatility pages in our Research
Page. |
| Columns
that sort - and multiple sorts! |
|
|
You
can sort any column in our next-generation lists by clicking on the
column heading. The little arrows next to the
column heading show you if the column is sorting
in ascending or descending order. Once a column
has been sorted, it becomes a different color
and a fine hairline appears around the column
and each cell.
Better
yet, you can do multiple sorts. Once you've sorted by a column, hold down
the shift key and click another column header,
which gives you a secondary sort. You can do several
successive sorts this way.
Some
columns will not give a secondary sort, due to
the nature of the data already sorted. |
|
| Helping
you find your way: |
|
|
There
is a LOT of data on the next generation lists.
Once you scroll down far enough to make the column
headers disappear, it's kind of like being on
the trail once the town is out of sight. There
are two systems built into the new lists to help
you keep your bearings:
Selecting
and deselecting rows - click anywhere
on a row that is not an html link (ex: stock symbol)
and the row is highlighted. It both darkens and
gets a fine hairline around the row and each cell
in the row. When you have most or all columns
open, it makes it easier to keep up with which
row you're on. While handy, this does not tell
you which column is which.
|
Want
to unselect a row? Just click it again and it is deselected.
You can also deselect all highlighted rows, by
clicking this button:

Tooltip
labels - When you mouseover any
cell on the list, a little "tooltip"
label appears with the stock symbol and the name
of the column heading.
 |
This
handy label orients you on the list and prevents
having to scroll back up to view the column
headings. |
|
|
The
lists are much wider on your screen than the older
lists. Now you can show or hide different segments of the lists to make them narrower.
The
columns that make up the list are grouped into
six categories : Stock
Information, Group (sector-industry), Returns, Strength
Measures, Earnings and Dividends and Volatility Measures.
The Stock Information and Groups columns are always open and cannot be closed.
However, the other four column groups can be shown
or hidden. When the tickbox for that group is
checked, the columns will be shown. If the tickbox
has no checkmark, they will be hidden:

| Free
cookies: |
|
| Since
the lists update every few minutes, it would be
a real pain for your carefully constructed sort
to be wiped out by an update. To solve the problem,
we put a cookie on your hard drive containing the
last sort parameters. |
The
cookie prevents a wipeout of your work. However,
the cookie does not save row selections, so an
update will wipe out any row highlighting. |
| Putting
the list back in order: |
|
|
If
you want to go back to the default list presentation
(sorted by ascending flat returns), it's easy.
Just
click the restore defaults button. |
Note:
this will not restore the show/hide default.
