Research Matters... a Lot

Research, not zen-master stock-picking skills, is what separates the men from the boys, the women from the girls. Our Research Page makes it simple and quick, and best of all, you can do your analysis right from our Real Time Lists™ - but you still have to do it.


Opening the Research Page

There are two ways to open the Research Page:

1. Enter a stock symbol in the Research Stock field
at the top of the page and click GO;

2. Click on the stock name, stock symbol, call or put symbol,
or the E and IV links for any stock on our lists:

The Research Page Matrix

Once you have the Research Page open, the links to further research are found at the top of the Research Page, organized by category, such as Earnings and Chains. Click on any of these links to open some great research, both technical and fundamental. Many of these pages offer you the ability to drill down even further.

Market and Industry

Quickly see how the market is doing. You can look at the major and minor indices to see how they are doing. You can research the industry and how the stock is doing within the industry - even get industry charts. and a heat map.

Technicals

With a click you can get a weekly or daily chart, with linear regression lines (upper and lower channel lines) drawn. You can also get short-, medium- and long-term technical opinions for the stock, as well as an exhaustive description of the technical signals operating.

    Tip: The daily charts pops up when you click the Stock Symbol
            link appearing right on the list.

Fundamentals

You'll find great fundamental research all bundled together - click on the Stock Name link on the list to open it. We offer news (general news about the stock and company press releases) on the stock, "Guru" opinions (how the stock rates fundamentally under different stock-evaluation methods) and a detailed company report, with StockScouter rating and other useful information.

     Tip: The fundamentals pop up when you click the Stock Name link
              appearing right on the list.

Chains

Open a covered call chain to look at the profitability of other available strikes, a put-call chain, an implied volatility chain and historical volatilities for the stock. The chains can be switched to many other chain types, such as spreads, diagonal spreads, straddles, strangles and many others.

     Tip: The Covered Call Chain pops up when you click the Call Symbol
              link appearing right on the list.

Earnings

See when the next earnings report is due, get a dividend report, view a detailed earnings analysis and see how the stock has historically reacted to earnings releases, and more. Note: more earnings information is available through the Fundamentals link.

Miscellaneous

Get a detailed quote with chart, a risk measurement for the stock, see a chart of insider transactions as well as comprehensive insider trade data and get SEC filings.

Similar - though less comprehensive - data is available for TSX-listed stocks on our proprietary Canadian lists. To convert the Research Page to get information on TSX-listed stocks, simply add ".TO" after the TSX symbol.

For example, the U.S. trading symbol for Canadian company Research In Motion is RIMM. However, its trading symbol on the TSX is RIM. To get the Canadian research page on the TSX listing, you simply enter the symbol as RIM.TO.
