What's New at CallWriter?

Real Advances in the
Arts and Crafts of
Covered Call Writing

(and other great things!)

Members' Trading Lab Series (September 2008)

We inaugurated a monthly online trading lab for CallWriter members in which we talk about the market, hot and cold industries, look at potential trades and management of open trades. The presentation is not lecture-based, but CW members learn quite a bit about the call writing process and get questions answered. This is a marvelous benefit of CallWriter membership, and it is available at no charge to members.

Our Global Select (Dividends) Lists (August 2008)

Yet another CallWriter first, these proprietary lists are composed of stocks from all around the world that consistently have been growing EPS (earnings per share) over the years - and this year - and are expected to continue doing so. They are attractively priced compared to earnings with a low PEG ratio (price:earnings growth), and which pay a cash dividend. They are mid-cap or larger. and they all pay dividends. The CallWriter Method is all about choosing the most conservative stocks, not the highest returns.

Well, these ARE the most conservative stocks.

Latest Research Page Upgrade (August 2008)

Our Research Page is one of the best analytical tools out there, where we have aggregated some of the best research available. Recent updates to this great analytical tool have made it even more powerful, enabling you to do critical research on the stock and its industry with a few mouse clicks.

You DO want to save time finding trades, right?

TSX-Canada Lists (May 2008)

This is another CallWriter first. These proprietary lists are for our Canadian members who would like to write covered calls, naked puts and SuperPuts in C$ using Canadian-listed (not US-listed) stocks. Stocks on these lists are listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and their TSX symbols are used; price, volume and other data provided reflect TSX transactions. The call options featured on these lists are listed on the Montreal Stock Exchange (MX), and symbols, prices, volumes, open interest and other data provided reflect transactions on the MX.

NOTE: All money amounts are shown in Canadian dollars (C$).

Trade Management Calculator™ Upgrade (May 2008)

Our proprietary Trade Management Calculator™ was - and remains - a major innovation in covered call writing. It allows you to enter live positions and manage them as the trade unfolds. CallWriter members swear by it. Though the calculator itself is web-based, all position data is stored on your computer. We have now upgraded it to allow you to export your position data in the form of a text file. This allows you to transfer the data to different computers (a lot of our members use the calculator on more than one computer) in order to keep position data synchronized. Now you can painlessly import and export position data.

Our Proprietary SuperPutLists (August 2007)

Another CallWriter first, these lists present potential covered call trades with the addition of a long put having an expiration of 6 to 8 months. But not any put - these puts are extremely cheap and have very little time value and a low vega. In fact, the cost of the put is usually only 1.5 to 2.5 times the call premium.

The SuperPut structure - a type of collar position - is designed to limit risk in the covered call position. In fact, our SuperPut lists do not present any potential trade in which the maximum possible loss exceeds 10%, and in many trades, the maximum possible loss will be in the 5-8% range. Nice to know that the loss is capped even if the stock suffers a catastrophic loss!
